Baskin-Robbins looking to open 35 Birmingham-area stores

Two years ago the ice cream shop announced plans to open as many as 40 locations in the Birmingham market and 88 in Alabama. Today with no new stores opened in the area the company said it has identified Birmingham as a “priority growth market” and wants to open about 35 new stores in and around the city said a news release. Polls opened at 7am Tuesday and close at 7pm. Voters will make decisions in key city council races as well as the school board. Monday the voting machines in Birmingham were rolled into polling places. Because of layoffs in Jefferson County Birmingham city employees are taking on extra responsibilities.
