jpg) !important;}. (AP) — An Alabama lobbyist has agreed to plead guilty to paying thousands of dollars in bribes to Birmingham Mayor Larry Langford who is awaiting trial in the scheme. Federal court documents show Al LaPierre admitted being the middleman in a conspiracy to route money to Langford from Montgomery investment banker Bill Blount. Blount’s firm received millions of dollars in work from the Jefferson County Commission while Langford was a member. LaPierre signed the plea deal Wednesday and he is expected to enter the guilty plea Thursday during a hearing in Birmingham. Langford is accused of accepting more than $230000 in bribes in exchange for funneling business to Blount’s company.

Eduardo has been unable to take part in any of Croatia’s World Cup qualifying campaign so far as he battled back from a broken leg suffered playing for Arsenal against Birmingham in February 2008. He returned to action for his club at the tail end of last season and was named by Croatia boss Slaven Bilic for the World Cup qualifier against Belarus on August 12. Bilic has named only 20 players for the match and said he will keep training sessions to a minimum. “We have chosen a smaller amount of players as we will only have two or three training sessions together” he said. Dinamo Zagreb’s Dejan Lovren is included with both Robert Kovac and Hrvoje Vejic out injured.
