Period“ Langford told a crowd at Tuesday’s City Council meeting. Langford is furious about the suspension of his signatory authority on federal paperwork.

(AP) — Authorities say a parking enforcement officer issued a ticket for a pickup truck outside an Alabama emergency room while a woman lay dead inside the vehicle. Authorities say Rebecca Kate Haley 25 had been dead for at least seven hours when an illegal parking ticket was put on the windshield. Police spokesman Sgt. Johnny Williams Jr. says the officer didn’t see Haley because she was slumped over in the truck’s cab.

Colonial Properties Trust honored with EPA award

Environment Protection Agency for water conservation at four of its Alabama and Texas properties. The Birmingham-based real estate investment trust (NYSE: CLP) will be awarded the Water Efficiency Leader Award from the EPA related to several of its office properties and apartment communities. The award recognizes Colonial Properties for reducing water consumption by up to 80 percent at the properties said a news release. Colonial Properties said it used water management conservation techniques developed by a company called Acequia starting in 2006 and has saved more than 65 million gallons of water and more than $130000 to date. In Birmingham the water conservation techniques were used at the Colonnade office park and at Colonial Center at Blue Lake. The award will be presented to the company this week in Birmingham.

Man accused of house fire murder

Police said Mark Clarkson had head and facial injuries and may have been alive when the fire began in Copperbeech Close Quinton on 28 March. Paul Nelson 37 of Gibbins Road Selly ak was remanded in custody by Birmingham magistrates. Reece Mason 18 of Court ak Road Harborne is also accused of murder. Mr Mason appeared in court on Monday and was also remanded in custody.
