First-half goals from Cameron Jerome and Hameur Bouazza sealed the points for Blues who gave themselves considerable breathing space ahead of Reading and they are now firm favourites to claim an automatic promotion spot along with Wolves. The winning margin could have been wider as Alex McLeish’s side had opportunities to score more goals on the way to their first away win since Boxing Day. Doncaster who came into the game on a run of just two defeats in the last 12 league outings struggled to get into the game and any lingering hopes of a late bid for the play-offs are almost certainly over. It was their first reverse at home since December 20 and leaves them 11 points adrift of sixth place.

Birmingham chief Brady doubts Benitez will sign Liverpool contract

09 | tribalfootball. com Birmingham City managing director Karren Brady doesn’t believe Rafa Benitez will sign his Liverpool contract. In her diary for The Sun Karren wrote: “Liverpool fans must be hoping that the magnificent 4-0 destruction of Real Madrid was a signature win leading Rafa Benitez to agree his contract. “I am not at all sure. I hear a different tune from Merseyside ? that the master of Anfield is far from convinced that even having secured full power over players and fees he will decide to stay. “I wonder where his departure would leave Liverpool whose owners Tom Hicks and George Gillett are shortly to lose the services of chief executive Rick Parry and haven?t the first clue as to who would be a suitable successor.
