James Andrews said Wednesday. Andrews a Birmingham Ala. -based orthopedist for elite athletes said Brady’s doctors were aggressive in finding and treating the infection after his operation. Andrews added that preventing infection in the Patriots quarterback’s knee was nearly impossible no matter how good the doctors are. “He had excellent care and he had an aggressive approach early on with early recognition to be able to control the infection and therefore he’s gotten through it” Andrews said. “They didn’t sit on it and wait on it hide with their head in the sand. They went after it immediately.

Random House imprint Crown Publishers announced on Sunday that Rice had agreed to a three-book deal with the first effort — a memoir about her years in the Bush administration — expected to come out in 2011. In addition the 54-year-old one-time Stanford University provost will pen a pair of books about her personal life from her upbringing in segregated Birmingham Alabama to her eventual rise to become the first black female secretary of state in U. ne book will be geared towards adults the other towards younger readers. While there’s been no word so far on possible titles for the upcoming trio of books the overall deal is said to worth somewhere in the neighborhood of two-and-a-half-million bucks.

A Birmingham Alabama mother and her boyfriend are charged with child abuse after authorities said the woman’s 2-year-old daughter was intentionally scalded with water from the waist down. Tony Russell 26 and Antonia Bridges 24 were arrested Tuesday night Birmingham homicide Sgt. Scott Thurmond said today. The toddler remains in Children’s Hospital in Birmingham where authorities said she had to undergo surgery for her burns earlier this week. Hospital officials won’t disclose her condition.
