They have ranged fromromantically grand to light and lean to oddly disjunct. OnFriday the ASO Birmingham Concert Chorale and soloistsArianna Zukerman Angela Horn John Bellemer and ThomasBarrett will yield to the musical vision of Britishconductor Raymond Leppard. Leppard is renowned for his interpretations of Baroquemusic but his repertoire extends far beyond. The81-year-old maestro spent much of his career with theIndianapolis Symphony and English Chamber Orchestra but hehas guest-conducted many of the world’s greatorchestras and opera companies and has amassed 200recordings. He conducted “Messiah” frequentlyearly in his career recording it with ECO in 1976. But inBirmingham he’ll be looking at it anew.

Despite the current economic environment Matlock said Innovation Depot received more requests for assistance from entrepreneurs in 2008 than in an average year. Innovation Depot a small-business incubator located on First Avenue North has received requests from 110 companies this year. That’s 10 more than an average year Matlock said at the Tech Friday meeting at New Horizons.

The forecast also calls for mostly cloudy skies. There’s a 50 percent chance of rain Sunday night but any rain should be light — less than a 10th of an inch is expected. For next week there’s a chance of showers in the forecast every day. There also will be a warming trend with highs from the middle 50s to the middle to upper 60s by the latter part of the week.
