Rashid Rauf suspected of involvement in an alleged plot to blow up transatlantic aircraft was arrested by police in Pakistan in 2006 following a tip-off from their British counterparts. New details of his escape emerged days after he fled following a court appearance in the capital Islamabad. An anonymous police official said Rauf was being taken back to a high-security prison when he asked his police guards to let him say afternoon prayers at a roadside mosque.
