Ghaly wraps up £3m Birmingham switch

Ghaly has signed a three-year deal with Birmingham – subject to a successful application for a work permit – with the option of a further two years and becomes Steve Bruce’s eighth signing of the summer. Ghaly who has also played for Al-Ahly and Feyenoord joined Tottenham in January last year going on to make 34 appearances and scoring three times. “The signing of Hossam is an excellent acquisition” said Bruce.

Finnish striker Mikael Forssell gave the Blues an early lead with the game’s first attack after three minutes. Cameron Jerome doubled the visitors’ advantage 13 minutes before the break with a shot from the edge of the box. Former Blues striker Tommy Mooney missed several chances before being substituted 15 minutes from time to applause from both sets of fans.

us Digg This Editor: I was greatly disappointed upon reading the recent editorial in the Birmingham Business Journal "Was Justice Really Served" (July 13 Page 31) regarding former Gov. Don Siegelman’s conviction. It is a primary purpose of our justice system to ensure the swift and certain punishment of criminals in order to deter future crimes. In that light I would hope that these convictions send a major shudder down every politician’s spine. It should make every politician think twice about offering a political appointment for sale.
